My Life as a 44-year-old College Student

At this point, I’m surprised black zombie blood isn’t oozing from my pores! I’m so glad it is Thursday!!!!
Marlo will continue performing all weekend and again next week from Wednesday through Saturday, but I get to sleep in tomorrow! That knowledge helps give me the juice to get through today J
I actually started the day with 6 shots of espresso – that’s radical and perhaps a little overboard. The good news is that I did not feel out of control, which definitely could have happened with this much caffeine coursing through my veins.
I invited my entire production one class, as my guest, to come to the show tonight.
Paul can not make it this evening and I hate doing these things alone – especially since I don’t actually know anyone over there…I’m only just meeting a few of the other parents, but really – I don’t know the people.
I hope someone comes…we’ll see J They may not want to hang with the “Mom”, but then again, they might surprise me. I wish Paul were coming.
My production one class was awesome! Apparently I was the only one who bothered to reserve equipment for today’s exercise. We all were supposed to have a camera, boom kit, tripod and cables for the filming a sound exercise.
The teacher put me in the director’s seat and I got to assign all of the crew AKA: my fellow students.
I chose a DP, a boom operator, talent, grips for lighting outside with bounce boards, grips to spot my boom operator who was standing on a chair, an AD who repeated my orders a Prop Master for setting the prop for each take, etc.
It was really fun – hope no one thought of me as a little Napoleon. One of the guys said they wanted me for their assigned group because I am always prepared and another guy told me, “nice shooting.” Those were pleasant things to hear.
I only hope Tony Pfau liked what he saw and didn’t think my entire existence out there was a disappointment.
We got our footage on .mov files to work on in post and we’ll see what everyone comes up with. This will have to be a nice sound edit – so EEEEK I’m frightened. I don’t really have that mad skill yet. Thank god for www.linda.com as I’m sure I’ll be purchasing a subscription this weekend.
Well – off to Urinetown – fingers crossed that I’m not the loner parent sitting in row M.
Well – rather than wait for fate to bring me someone – or possibly no one, I called a friend on the off chance she would be able to join me tonight.
Fortunately, she was free because not a single classmate actually showed up.
It’s ok; the class I asked to come is mostly boys who were all in high school last week J. I’m surprised any of them even said they would try, but none committed and then didn’t show, so I’m cool with that.
